Cap & Trade Part II

First, let me apologize for how long this has taken to post Part II. I've had some personal issue to manage and I also wanted to make sure I researched this thoroughly to bring you the facts.

The economic impact of this bill will be catastrophic. It is just another form of government taking over control of another sector of industry here in America. In an interview with the San Fransisco Chronicle, B. Hussein Obama said himself that, "The problem is not technical and the problem is not mastery of the legislative intricacies of Washington. The problem is, can you get the American people to say, “This is really important,” and force their representatives to do the right thing? That requires mobilizing a citizenry. That requires them understanding what is at stake. And climate change is a great example." He goes on to say, " When I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers." This is a direct hit on the wage earner. Especially on the middle class who are already struggling to make ends meet in this Obama economy. But it hits wage earners on two fronts. Not only with the increased rates in electricity, but those who live off of the government dole and have their utility bills paid by tax payers. Barbara Boxer (D-California) said there will be no new taxes. But how is this true? Rates will increase, therefore taxes will have to increase in order to pay for those living off of the dole. How else do they intend to pay for it? But that is just the tip of the iceberg.

When electricity rates have "skyrocketed", it's going to increase the cost of doing business. In order for companies to survive, they have to pass that cost along to consumers. The cost to ship goods from factories throughout the country will be astronomical. Pump prices they say will go over $5.00 per gallon. I think that's a very conservative estimate. Just last summer, pump prices were over $4.00 per gallon without this marxist bill in place. Look for $7-$8.00 per gallon if it does pass. Of course, this is just my opinion, but look at the facts. If we do see $7.00 per gallon fuel prices, it will cost some people living in rural America more to work than if they just sat at home and did nothing because of the commute they must take to their jobs.

In May of 2009, CRA International, an economics, finance, and business consulting firm, working with businesses, law firms, accounting firms, and governments, prepared a report on the impact of the Cap & Trade Bill for the National Black Chamber of Commerce. According to the report, the most important conclusion is that, contrary to some claims that have been made recently, policies such as ACESA (American Clean Energy and Security Act) will have a cost. Therefore the judgment about what action to take cannot be made simply on the grounds that a cap-and-trade program will create additional jobs and stimulate economic growth – it will not – but on whether the benefits are worth the cost. And it needs to be recognized that the benefits of any action by the United States alone are limited because of the relatively small share that the United States will contribute to global emissions over the next century. This analysis reveals that businesses and consumers would face higher energy and transportation costs under ACESA, which would lead to increased costs of other goods and services throughout the economy.

Also in the report is the transfer of wealth to other nations. According to the report, ACESA contains provisions that will transfer wealth from the U.S. to other nations. These include allocations of allowances to overseas entities for international adaptation and purchases of offsets from foreign projects. It is estimated that these provisions of ACESA would result in a transfer of U.S wealth to other countries varying from $40 billion to $60 billion per year in the years 2012 through 2030. Some possible circumstances can cause these amounts to be even larger.

All in all, the economic impact of this bill will increase energy costs, it will be the single highest tax increase in American history and will result in the loss of millions of jobs. All of this for more control over business and our personal lives over the myth of global warming.

Cap & Trade Part I

On June 26, 2009, the House of Representatives passed the Waxman/Markey Bill (better known as Cap & Trade) by a vote of 219-212. There were 8 so called conservatives who voted for this bill. Those 8 were Mary Bono Mack (CA), Mike Castle (DE), Mark Kirk (IL), Leonard Lance (NJ), Frank LoBiondo (NJ), Chris Smith (NJ), John McHugh (NY) and Dave Reichert (WA). These 8 need to be contacted by their constituents and told they will be voted out of their jobs in 2010. We have come to a point in time that is crucial to our country. We can no longer allow these fools to be seated and have the authority to pass laws that are unconstitutional. This doesn't apply to just these eight Republicans. This applies to all elected officials. It's time to take our country back!

In the 1970's it was known as global cooling. That didn't work. From the mid 1980's through the early 2000's it was known as global warming. Since that has not been scientifically proven, it's now called climate change. Liberals will stop at nothing and are very patient in trying to gain as much power as possible to obtain as much control as possible over our personal lives. They have an elitist attitude and I truly believe that they believe they have to save us from ourselves because we are incapable of making the right decisions in our lives. This is nothing other than tyranny! The latest movement from these statists is called Cap & Trade. Cap & Trade is a limit or cap on the amount of a pollutant that can be emitted. Companies are issued permits which regulates the amount of pollutants they are permitted to emit. When a company reaches their limit however, they may buy credits from other companies who have not used their credits. This is known as trade. In a perfect world, this sounds like a great idea. However, there is more to it than what meets the eye.

First of all, without the entire world following suit in emissions reduction, this will never work. Places like China and Russia who do not follow any kind of emissions reductions will still be emitting pollutants into the air. CO2 (carbon dioxide) acts globally. It's impact on the environment is similar wherever in the globe it is released. The originator of the emissions does not really matter from an environmental standpoint. Of course, the environmental impact would be more severe in those locations, however the pollutants will and do travel the globe. For example, when smoking was allowed on airplanes, the smoke didn't just stop once it reached the non smoking section of the plane. It continued to travel throughout the plane. The further away from the "smoking section" it traveled, the less impact it had. But it still affected everyone. That being said, I don't believe there is a major crisis with large scale environmental damage at this time. It is a tactic employed by the left to scare people into thinking that if they, meaning the statists in office, don't do something about this, we are all going to perish. Again, an elitist attitude. I do think we can do things to improve on our foreign dependence on energy. We can be more energy independent if we started tapping our own resources instead of buying them from countries who hate us and some who sponsor terrorism. We need to pursue nuclear energy, do more offshore drilling, tap into the reserve in ANWR (Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge), drill for more natural gas, etc. Windmills are an alternative, but the cost associated with them, not to mention the enormous amount of land that would be required to place them is not as cost effective. By doing this, the cost of energy will decrease dramatically and will create jobs not only in those specific industries, but throughout the United States in all areas.

Part II will be about the economic impact of Cap & Trade.

Welcome To My Blog

Welcome to my blog Patriotic Conservatism. This is a first for me. I'm doing this because I can no longer be silent and this is the only way I can get my voice out there for many to hear. In this blog, I will be posting facts about the issues that concern the welfare of all Americans. I will be adding my opinions on the issues as well. I welcome any responses to my posts whether for or against what I have to say. I look forward to this blog becoming bigger than I could ever imagine. All I ask of anyone who reads my words is please pass this blog along for others to read. If my words can help open the eyes of just one more person to the atrocities our elected officials are committing, it will have been worth it. Thank you and enjoy.

Tyranny! When a situation or person controls how you are able to live, in an unfair way. Or in the case of America, people. Those people are Barack Hussein Obama and the elected officials of the Senate and the House of Representatives. Most of them are Democrats with extremely leftist views. Some are Republicans who are not true conservatives. They have an agenda to control every aspect of our lives. They do this by enacting laws that chip away at the core of our freedoms the Founding Fathers laid out for us in the amendments to our Constitution and our inalienable God given rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Where is the life when government keeps those who live off of the tax payer's dollars on government assistance? Where is the liberty in taxing us to death? Where is the pursuit of happiness when government is forcing us to abide by laws that are unconstitutional and possibly treasonist?

Our government has grown to astronomical proportions. There is an office for everything imaginable. This is directly against what our Founding Fathers had envisioned. Both Democrats and Republicans are guilty of this. The larger the government grows, the more control they have over our lives and what we can and cannot do. As George Washington said in his farewell address, "All obstructions to the execution of the Laws, all combinations and associations, under whatever plausible character, with the real design to direct, control, counteract, or awe the regular deliberation and action of the constituted authorities, are destructive of this fundamental principle, and of fatal tendency. They serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation, the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public administration the mirror of the ill-concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common counsels, and modified by mutual interests. However combinations or associations of the above description may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people, and to usurp for themselves the reins of government; destroying afterwards the very engines, which have lifted them to unjust dominion."

I will end my first blog with this: Freedom-the condition or right of being able or allowed to do, say, think, etc., a right to act in the way you think you should. We as Americans have freedom. However, slowly but surely it is being taken away from us little by little by the actions of people who have statist and marxist agendas. It's time to take our country back. We The People are the only ones who can do this by wisely choosing who we elect to office. We do make a difference. So, my question to you is, 'Do you feel like your freedom is being comprimised?' If the answer is 'Yes', then educate yourself on the issues, contact your elected officials and tell them what you think and by all means vote for those who have our country's best issues in mind.
